Is advanced AI coming soon?

Advanced AI

While no one knows for sure, many leading experts believe that advanced artificial intelligence will be here in a few years. Many industry leaders, AI researchers, and policy experts believe that AGI will be developed in a frontier lab by 2029 or 2030. Others believe that it will take longer, but that it will arrive, bringing with it both positive and negative impacts on society.

Regardless of particular timelines, we need to prepare for the advanced AI revolution. As it stands, we’re currently not ready for the capabilities of technology that humans simply can’t keep up with.

While AI will provide countless benefits to humanity, it also poses serious risks. We have a lot of work to do to ensure that AI is a tool for good, not malice. We’ve already seen how bad actors can get around safeguards to achieve bad outcomes, even despite the fact that AI is generally designed to avoid providing harmful information. (For example, step by step instructions on how to create a bioweapon)

The dawn of AGI is approaching, and The Alliance for Secure AI is working hard to educate the public and civic leaders about both the benefits and the potential risks of advanced AI, as well as what we can do now to create a safer future for everyone living alongside this revolutionary technology.
