The Alliance for Secure AI Calls on President Trump to Resist Big Tech’s Power Grab

Today, The Alliance for Secure AI urged the Trump administration to resist Big Tech’s unprecedented power grab in the form of a new draft White House executive order on AI.

The order would reportedly allow federal agencies to withhold state funding and direct the Department of Justice to sue states that pass AI laws that protect their citizens.

Statement from Brendan Steinhauser, CEO of The Alliance for Secure AI:

“President Trump should resist Big Tech’s power grab in the form of an executive order that would put pressure on states that pass common sense AI laws. Going through with this executive order would allow Big Tech carte blanche to develop advanced AI without meaningful safeguards and protections for the American people.

“This is not what the president’s conservative base wants. They distrust Big Tech, and rightfully so. The base knows that Big Tech will always put its massive profits over the American people. Political chameleons like Jensen Huang, David Sacks, and Marc Andreessen want to make hundreds of billions of dollars, and are putting their self-interests ahead of the country’s interests.

“Regular, hard working Americans are worried about the harms and risks of advanced AI, and they do not support the Big Tech bro billionaires who want to destroy their jobs, get their children addicted to their apps, and fill their minds with AI slop – all while empowering our adversaries like the Chinese Communist Party.”
